Timing Belt Replacement

Replacing the timing belt requires good mechanical knowledge as an error in this maintenance could severely damage the engine; in addition to the belt, it is always advisable to replace the tensioner and the water pump; first, remove the plastic cover under the engine and drain the coolant from the drain plug under the radiator; then remove the cover on the engine, take out the bleed plugs from the cooling system, and disconnect the battery; lift the vehicle on a jack from the timing belt side and remove the front wheel; then remove the auxiliary belt by loosening the tensioner, take off the crankshaft pulley and the timing cover; align the timing marks by rotating the crankshaft and secure this position with the appropriate tools; apply support under the engine to remove the side mount and complete the disassembly of the timing belt and water pump; install the new pump, the new tensioner, and then the belt itself, removing the timing tools only at the end; proceed in reverse for reassembly and fill the cooling system with antifreeze and bleed it.
