Replacing the timing belt requires good mechanical knowledge as an error in this maintenance could seriously damage the engine; in addition to the belt, it is always advisable to replace the tensioner and the water pump; then remove the plastic cover under the engine and drain the coolant from the drain plug under the radiator; remove the cover on the engine, remove the drain plugs from the refrigeration system and disconnect the battery; lift the car on a stand on the distribution side and remove the front wheel; then remove the auxiliary belt by loosening the relative tensioner, disassemble the crankshaft pulley and the timing belt protection casings; then align the timing references by rotating the crankshaft and fix this position with the appropriate templates; apply a support under the engine to be able to remove the side support and complete the disassembly of the timing system and the water pump; install the new pump, the new tensioner and therefore the belt itself, removing the timing templates only at the end; proceed in reverse order to reassemble and fill the refrigeration system with anti-freeze liquid and bleed it.
