Replacing Spark Plugs and Ignition Wires

Model: Porsche 911 996 - Years 1997-2005

Perform this maintenance with the engine cold. First, lift the vehicle and remove the rear wheel to access the spark plugs. From the wheel well, remove the fastening bolts (10 mm wrench) of the aluminum cover protecting the coils and ignition wires. Next, unscrew the fastening bolts (hex head) of the coils, two for each coil, and pull the boots off the spark plugs. Then, unscrew the spark plugs and replace them with new ones, being careful not to exceed the torque specifications. Reapply the boots and tighten the corresponding fastening bolts.
