How to Replace the Fuel Pump on the Dodge RAM 1500 Mk3

This guide shows how to replace the fuel pump on the Dodge RAM 1500 Mk3. Disconnect the electrical connector of the pump from the bottom of the vehicle near the left rear wheel. Open the fuel cap and run the engine for a few minutes to drain all the fuel from the system. From the engine compartment, disconnect the battery and remove the air filter box. Remove the engine cover to access the fuel drain valve on the left side of the engine near the oil dipstick. With the valve cap opened and a container placed to catch the fluid, use a flathead screwdriver or a pick to pry off the cap to let the fuel drain out. Remove the emission filter container to lighten the tank. Unscrew the tank mounting bolts and lower it. Disconnect the hoses and completely remove the tank. Unscrew the pump retaining ring and replace the pump. Reassemble everything in position and start the engine to circulate the fuel.
