How to replace the connecting rod bearings of the Renault Megane.

Today we will explain how to replace the connecting rod bearings of a Renault Megane. Before starting the removal of the bearings, let's lift the car using the jack and jack stands; remove the front wheel and place it under the vehicle. Using a wrench, remove the nut located on the oil pan to let the used oil drain into a container; the draining will take about 10 minutes. To remove the oil pan, it is necessary to remove the subframe. We will remove the front fenders using a socket wrench with a 13mm insert. After removing the screws, secure the metal plate to the frame and unscrew the steering bolt using a wrench with an 18mm insert. Using a torque wrench, we will remove the subframe, and to support the weight of the radiator, we will place a wooden bracket. The oil pan is attached to the driveshaft, so to remove it, we need to use a 13mm wrench. Unscrew the screw of the bracket to remove the mounting leg by leveraging it, then with a 10mm wrench, unscrew the transverse screw of the air conditioning compressor. Using a flathead screwdriver, we will remove the connector of the electronic oil indicator, and finally, we will remove the oil pan using a wrench with an extension and an 8mm insert to unscrew the 18 screws. To unscrew the connecting rod bearings, we first need to unscrew the nut using a wrench with an 11mm insert. After removing the lower bearing, we will rotate the crankshaft using the bolt to remove the upper bearing. Before installing the new bearings, we will coat them with oil and let the excess drain from the cap. We will install the new bearings and screw the bolt back in. Using a torque wrench, we will tighten the two pairs to 20 Nm. Before installing the oil pan, we will clean the bottom and the pan itself. We will reinsert the 18 screws and tighten the torque on the transmission screw with a turn of 21 Nm on the driveshaft, re-screw the screws of the compressor, and connect the power supply of the electronic oil indicator. We will install the driveshaft and insert the fender to mount the front wheel. After bringing the vehicle back to the ground, we will pour approximately 5 liters of engine oil into the oil reservoir.
