Throttle Body Test on the Renault Megane II Without OBD Diagnosis

On the Renault Megane II, it is possible to perform a throttle body test. Although there are many limitations: it is not possible to accurately determine any data on wear or dirt; the valve must be disassembled in any case; we cannot even find OBD codes, for which a diagnostic reader is needed. However, we can proceed by starting the car without starting the engine, holding down the "reset" button on the rev counter for 5 seconds. This will enter "diagnostic" mode: then look for the "Throttle valve" or "butterfly" entry. Follow the on-screen instructions: press the accelerator fully several times to calibrate the butterfly: the system will display "test ok" or errors such as "throttle fault". This test checks if the butterfly responds to commands, detects raw errors, without technical details, and performs self-calibration with the engine off.
