If turning the key to the engine start position does not start the engine but the dashboard lights illuminate perfectly, you can rule out a battery issue. The cause may lie with the starter motor or the ignition switch behind the key barrel. This is straightforward to check due to its accessibility and the verification method. Simply remove the two cover shells located under the steering column and intercept the connector between the switch and the electrical system. At this point, use a tester or a test lamp to check for power on the various wires. Connect the earth of the test lamp and with the other probe, check for current on the connector wires first with the ignition off, then with the key in the on position, and finally ensure the lamp lights up when you turn the key to the start position. If this is successful, it means the switch is functioning correctly.
