Check battery efficiency and charging system

Model: Renault Megane Megane 1 - Years 1995-2003
Part: Battery

Once the position of the battery has been identified, which in the case of the car in question is on the passenger side, immediately under the windscreen, check that the terminals are well tightened and do not show any formation of oxide or corrosion; also check that the battery does not have any acid leaks. The first measurement of the state of charge of the battery must be made with the engine off and the ignition on (the battery warning light must go off); place the multimeter on the 20V direct current scale, and connect the test leads to the battery poles respecting the polarity: an efficient battery must give a voltage value between 12. 3v and 13. 5V. Check the voltage drop during the starting phase to test the starting of the battery: it must not drop below 8V. Then proceed to check the charging system making sure that the auxiliary belt that drives the alternator pulley is intact and does not show cracks; then start the engine, make sure that the battery warning light goes off and measure the voltage at the battery poles: it must have a value between 13. 2 and 14. 8 V. Finally, to check the stability of the alternator regulator, activate all electrical drives (headlights, indicators, defroster, passenger compartment fan) and check that the voltage does not drop below 13. 2 V (it may be necessary to accelerate a little).

How to deactivate the safe lock on a Volkswagen Golf.

The safe lock is indeed an anti-theft system that prevents thieves from accessing the car. This device locks the doors, both externally and internally, when the driver activates the central locking remote control after leaving the vehicle. To permanently disable it, it is necessary to use a diagnostic program such as VCDS that we will connect to the vehicle through the ODBII port. Then wait for the connection and recognition of the control unit and then select the blocks present and locate the safe lock to disable it. And the job will be completed.
