Battery Check and Alternator Charging

First, perform a visual inspection to ensure that the battery terminals and their respective connectors show no signs of oxidation, that they are tightly secured, and that the auxiliary belt driving the alternator pulley is not cracked; at this point, set the voltmeter to the 20 Volt DC scale and measure the voltage at the battery terminals with the engine off: the voltage should not be less than 12 V; then start the engine and ensure that the battery charging warning light on the dashboard turns off, and then check the voltage at the battery terminals: the value should be between 13.2 and 14.8 Volts; repeat the measurement while activating as many loads as possible, such as lights, air conditioning, and rear window heater, and check that the voltage does not drop below 13.2 V.
