How to Change the Oil and Oil Filter on a 1999 Toyota Tacoma

To change the oil and perform an oil filter change on a 1999 Toyota Tacoma, open the hood and locate the oil cap, then unscrew it. Prepare a pan to catch the oil and place it under the vehicle near the oil pan, then remove the 14 mm bolt. Be careful as the oil will come out immediately; let it drain for a while and clean the bolt. To replace the filter, position yourself in front of the driver's side wheel and remove it by leveraging with your hand and using an oil filter wrench. Use oil from the old filter to lubricate the new one to facilitate installation. Insert the new filter, pressing until the seal touches the metal. Now, replace the oil drain plug and refill the oil pan with new oil using a funnel.
