How to Replace the Fuel Pump on the Toyota Highlander xu20

This guide shows how to replace the fuel pump on the Toyota Highlander xu20. The first step is to remove the trim panel located in the boot, detach the two plastic clips, and fold down the right rear seat. Remove the four 14 mm bolts securing the seat in place and take the seat out. Next, remove the carpet to access the inspection hatch and take off the pump cover; use a lever to assist with the opening. Clean the area of debris and dirt before opening the tank. Disconnect the pump's power cable and the fuel line, then remove the 8 mm bolts holding the pump in place. Pull out the pump and remove the second fuel line, completely taking out the unit. Install the new unit and turn on the ignition a few times to fill the pump before fully starting the engine.
