In this video, we will see what the symptoms of a faulty MAF sensor (or air mass meter) are: the most common is the engine sputtering and running unevenly, especially at low RPMs; the accelerator will have a slow response, as if there is a hesitation; the idle will be unstable (and we will see the tachometer fluctuate) with sudden engine stalls, especially when stationary.

We will also notice a sudden and unjustified increase in fuel consumption, black smoke from the exhaust, a sign of a mixture that is too rich (too much fuel and too little air). It is likely that the check engine light will turn on the dashboard, and with an OBD2 tool, we can read codes such as P0100, P0102, and P0103. Often the sensor is not broken, but just dirty: cleaning it with a specific spray will be enough to solve the problem.
