How to reset the engine light in 30 seconds: you need an inexpensive OBD2 tool and an app on your smartphone. Connect the tool to the OBD port under the steering wheel, turn on the ignition, connect the tool to your smartphone and open the app; scan for errors and delete the codes. If the light comes back on, the problem is still present. Alternative without a tool: disconnect the black battery cable for 15 minutes, then reconnect and start the car: the light should turn off at this point. This way, you save at least £180 on dealer intervention and avoid ignoring serious errors; if the light returns, it means there is a mechanical fault.
