Operation: What to do if the airbag light is on?

The security system, also known as SRS, is made up of the seatbelt, impact sensors, and an electronic control unit. All these components work together to ensure the safety of the driver and passengers in the event of an accident. Every time we start the car, the airbag and seatbelt warning lights on the panel turn on. If the lights turn off immediately, it means that they are functioning correctly and the control unit has received the encoding message. However, if the light keeps flashing, it means that there is a malfunction in one of the SRS components and we need to take the car to an authorized workshop for a check-up. The reasons for the malfunction can vary, such as mechanical damage to the component, malfunction of an electronic part, incorrectly connected or not connected connectors after a steering wheel replacement. Other reasons can include failure to disconnect the connector during a repair, malfunctioning control unit software, unreprogrammed module after airbag replacement, or incorrect battery replacement. To better understand the error, a diagnosis of the car through the OBD port will be necessary, and based on the fault, the necessary remedy can be applied. For example, if the fault is due to low battery voltage, simply recharging it correctly and updating the onboard computer will suffice.
