How to disassemble and reassemble a fuel pump

In this video we see how to disassemble and reassemble a fuel pump: once the pump is removed from its housing, we need to open the clips on the sides of the body, so that the spring and internal mechanism can come off. However, removing the internal piston will be a rather laborious operation. It is not easy to give a valid indication for the purchase of the spare part, as much depends on the vehicle on which you are working. In fact, we found pistons online that cost at least twice as much as the entire inside of the fuel pump, so it will be important to know which pump we are talking about. Reassembling it is paradoxically easier, because the joints have already been opened, so it will be enough to tighten the various clamps well and where necessary, replace them. Our advice is still to change the entire inside, because this way you are sure to do a better job and there is no danger that some component remains loose. Now we put the interior back into its shell and we can lower the pump back into the fuel.
