How to Solve the Insufficient Engine Oil Pressure Problem on a 1.3 MultiJet

In this video, you can see the reasons for insufficient oil pressure in a 1.3 MultiJet engine. When the red warning light comes on, you must stop and switch off the engine.

In this specific case, the issue was a dirty pickup pipe. However, this is not always the problem.

Other solutions may include a valve inside the heat exchanger, the oil filter, or a failure of the oil pump that will need to be completely replaced. Now, back to our specific case: you need to safely raise the vehicle, then drain the oil sump, remove the gearbox bracket - for easier access, it may be necessary to remove the exhaust pipe - and then remove all the screws from the oil sump, which is also secured with a sealant that you will need to separate with a thin blade.

As we can see, the pickup pipe is very dirty, which made it difficult for the oil to reach the sensor. Take this opportunity to clean all the mechanical components, including the inside of the sump.

Clean the outer edges of the sump and reapply high-temperature silicone, joining the two halves and refitting all the screws. Refit the bolt with the gasket and fill with new oil. Job done.
