How to Change the Key Fob Battery of a Volkswagen Passat

Change the key fob battery of a Volkswagen Passat by following these simple steps. Take your remote and press the metal key release button. Once the key is out, use a screwdriver to pry apart the two covers of the key (in the space where the metal key fits). Pry until the cover opens, then remove the worn battery with a small screwdriver, take a new one of the same size and voltage. Refit the cover on your remote by pressing on the key case until you hear it click into place. Check the proper functioning of the remote by pressing the buttons.
