How to Remove the Timing Belt on a Volkswagen Golf

Let's see how to remove the timing belt on a Volkswagen Golf. Open the bonnet and secure it. Use a socket wrench to remove the coolant reservoir, disconnect the power wiring with pliers, and remove the plastic undertray with a screwdriver. Lift the car with a column lift to access the underside. Use a socket wrench to loosen the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off its seat. With the socket wrench, unscrew the tensioner pulley bolt, then remove the water pump as shown in the video. Install the new parts in the engine bay.
