Replacing Cabin Air Filter

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005
Part: Cabin air filter

Access the cabin air filter from the engine compartment; it is located beneath the windscreen on the passenger side.
Open the front bonnet, remove the seal along the edge of the plastic cover just below the windscreen, and lift it: the cabin air filter is immediately visible. Remove the retaining clip by pulling it upwards and extract the old filter; clean the filter housing of any debris and insert the new one (ensuring the correct airflow direction), reapply the clip, and then replace the seal to secure the plastic cover.
