Cabin Air Filter Replacement

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

The cabin air filter is located in the engine compartment, on the passenger side beneath the plastic cover under the windscreen: open the front bonnet, remove the seal along the plastic strip, and lift it to access the filter housing; then, remove the filter retaining clip and pull the filter out of its housing, clean any dirt residue, and insert the new filter respecting the airflow direction; then, apply the retaining clip and refit the plastic grille and seal. When replacing the cabin air filter, it is also advisable to sanitise the cabin with a suitable germicidal spray.
