How to replace the EGR valve of a Volkswagen Transporter T5.

Let's see how to change the EGR valve on a Volkswagen Transporter T5: first, we will need the new EGR valve, which we can find on mister-auto.it with the code 005-724809380 at the price of 114.90 euros with free delivery. The EGR valve is located inside the engine, connected to the intake manifold and the exhaust gas recirculation system. We remove the control hoses, use a screwdriver to unlock the metal clip pin that secures the pipe, and take it off. Then, using a 13 mm wrench, we unscrew the two bolts that secure this smaller pipe to the EGR valve. The most difficult part is unscrewing the EGR valve from the large metal pipe with three Allen screws. We use a socket wrench and an extension; one of the three screws is located underneath the valve and is hard to reach. Once the valve is removed, we will see how much dust and dirt has accumulated in the pipe: let's clean it well. We prepare the new valve with its metal gasket and position it in place, aligning the screw holes; we reassemble the metal manifold with the new gasket, screw the 13 mm bolts back in, and reattach the air intake pipe with a light layer of silicone grease on the sealing gasket. We reconnect the hoses and then perform a test start of the engine.
