How to replace the radiator on a Volkswagen Passat? Open the bonnet, detach the engine soundproofing panel, then use an appropriate socket spanner to remove the plates securing the radiator at the top. Lift the car on a column lift; remove the bumper and (if necessary, the torsion bar). Loosen the clamp on the water hose, and detach the various hoses of the cooling system using pliers. Remove the fan assembly and then the radiator from the engine bay. Prepare to install the new part in the engine bay: fit the cooling fans, clamps, bolts, and various pipes. Reattach the radiator mounting brackets with the associated plates. Tighten the plastics and front grille securely with a socket spanner. Refill with new coolant.
