How to Remove the Steering Wheel of a Volkswagen Golf

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003

Before you begin, sit in the driver's seat of your Volkswagen Golf. Using a flathead screwdriver, unscrew the rear screws securing the airbag to the steering wheel. Once done, pull the airbag out enough to disconnect the connector, allowing you to remove it. This will give you access to the nut securing the steering wheel to the steering column. Next, insert the steering lock and unscrew the securing nut. Once this step is complete, you can slide the steering wheel off the steering column, finishing the disassembly.
