Dashboard Replacement Instructions

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

The first step before proceeding with the disassembly is to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Start by removing the lower part of the dashboard, then the covers of the centre tunnel including the gear lever. Continue by disassembling the airbag, then the steering wheel (mark the central position with a marker), the instrument cluster, and the steering column. Remove the stereo and other elements of the centre console and various buttons by disconnecting the electrical connections. Detach the passenger side airbag and its support; the air vents and air ducts. At this point, you can slide the dashboard out of the cabin and insert the new one, proceeding in reverse for installation. Pay particular attention to the various connections and fixings: forgetting one could require repeating the operation.
