V-Belt Replacement

Model: Volkswagen New Beetle MK 2, 9C - Years 1999-2012

Open the front bonnet, remove the dipstick and the plastic engine cover; reposition the dipstick. Just next to the alternator is the tensioner for the V-belt or auxiliary belt (before removing it, make a diagram of the belt routing around the pulleys): use a tube to leverage the tensioner to loosen it and then slide off the belt. At this point, unscrew the fixing bolts of the tensioner to remove it and replace it with a new one; secure it by tightening the respective bolts. Then apply the new belt, ensuring it passes correctly around the various pulleys, and tension it using the tensioner.
