The EPC light stands for "Electric Power Control" and illuminates whenever the control unit detects an electrical error. Often, on the Volkswagen Golf, this error is sent from the engine to the control unit due to fuelling issues, so it is easy to reset the light by simply cleaning the carburettor or throttle body with a suitable cleaning spray, and the warning will disappear.

The better you clean, the easier it will be for the light to go out. If this does not work, try disconnecting the battery and leaving it disconnected for 10-15 minutes. Reconnect it and check if the error has cleared.

How to open the bonnet on a Volkswagen Golf?

In this tutorial, you will see how to open the bonnet on a Volkswagen Golf MK4. This is a very simple operation that follows the standard procedure. First, open the driver's door, then locate the lever in the lower left area and pull it. Next, move to the front of the vehicle, lift the bonnet slightly, and find the second lever located just above the Volkswagen logo. At this point, simply pull it towards you, fully open the bonnet, and secure it with the prop rod. To close it, gently push it down.
