Replacing Timing Belt

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

To facilitate the replacement of the timing belt, first remove the coolant reservoir, the windscreen washer reservoir, the fuel filter, and the intake hose; then remove the plastic cover of the belt, align the timing marks (pulleys' marks with the engine cover marks), and insert the appropriate alignment pins to prevent movement during installation. Loosen the tensioner and remove the belt; then replace the water pump, the tensioner, and the idler bearing. Refit the belt, ensuring it is correctly tensioned, and reassemble everything previously removed.
