How to Remove the Fuel Tank from the Volkswagen Transporter T2

This guide shows how to remove the fuel tank from the Volkswagen Transporter T2. Before starting the operation, disconnect the vehicle's battery. After draining as much fuel as possible from the tank, proceed with the operation. Lift the Transporter to continue and remove the fire wall. Once the hydraulic hose connected to the tank is detached, drain the remaining fuel into a suitable container. Use a 13 mm spanner to undo the two retaining straps of the tank and the pressure relief hoses. Disconnect the fuel supply hose, and after slightly moving the tank, disconnect the pump hose and the earth wire. Completely remove the tank. Before installing the new tank, replace the hoses and connectors present. Insert the tank, connect all cables, and secure it in position. Refit the fire wall and lower the vehicle.
