Volkswagen Golf - Video tutorial
Model: Volkswagen Golf
Golf 5, Golf V, MK 5
- Years 2003-2008 Failure of the EGR valve can cause various vehicle problems such as injection problems and loss of power. The first thing to do is to secure the vehicle, with the handbrake on and the engine off, then open the bonnet. The EGR valve is located at the top left of the engine, to access this valve you will need to remove the engine cover. Disconnect the air inlet duct. Once the conduit has been removed, the solenoid valve can be removed with a 5 mm Allen key. After removing the screws, the valve can be detached. You now have access to the EGR valve, so remove the tube that operates the valve. Once the worn EGR valve has been removed, perform a thorough cleaning and replace the EGR valve with a new one.
