Replacement of the Timing Belt

Replacing the timing belt is a maintenance task that requires good mechanical knowledge, as an error in its installation could severely compromise the engine. Start by removing the intake hose, disconnecting the air conditioning sensor connectors, and then removing the cover of the auxiliary belt; remove the right front wheel and slide off the auxiliary belt; remove the caps from the pulleys and take off the water pump pulley, the idler pulleys, and the crankshaft pulley to remove the timing belt cover, first aligning the timing marks; remove the air filter housing, the right front headlamp, the power steering oil reservoir, and the windscreen washer fluid reservoir to improve working space. Drain the coolant, loosen the tensioner, and remove the old timing belt; then replace the water pump, the tensioner, and install the new timing belt. During reassembly, consider whether to replace the auxiliary belt and the related idler pulleys as well.
