Replacing the timing belt is one of the most important maintenance tasks to preserve the engine: a broken belt can severely damage the engine, sometimes irreparably; therefore, it is advisable to adhere to the maintenance schedule, respecting both the mileage and time intervals. The most critical aspect of this maintenance is to keep the timing marks fixed during disassembly: once the marks are aligned, insert the appropriate locking pins into the pulleys to prevent the crankshaft and camshaft from rotating; then move the coolant reservoir, apply support under the engine, and remove the side mount; proceed with replacing the timing kit, which includes not only the toothed belt but also the water pump and tensioners.
