How to Disable Start-Stop in the Volkswagen Tiguan

The Start-Stop system is an automatic shutdown system installed in many cars to reduce fuel consumption and lower air pollution. When the car stops and the gearbox is put into neutral, the car automatically shuts down, then restarts when the clutch is pressed. This also places a greater load on the battery and starter motor, and with frequent restarts, it can worsen comfort due to vibrations. For this reason, some drivers prefer to disable it temporarily. To do this in a Volkswagen Tiguan, simply press the button located on the centre console near the gearbox, which will be confirmed by the illumination of the corresponding warning light on the dashboard.
