Replacing the Reverse Light Switch

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003

If the reverse lights do not illuminate when engaging reverse gear, first check the condition of the bulbs and the corresponding fuse. If everything is in order, the fault lies with the switch on the gearbox. To replace it, remove the air filter box, the battery, and the battery housing. Once you reach the switch, disconnect the connector and unscrew it using a 23 mm spanner. Then, screw in the new switch securely, reconnect the connector, and reassemble the battery housing and air filter box. Finally, ensure the lights illuminate when engaging reverse.
