See how the turbocharged volumetric system works in TSI versions. To ensure excellent performance in a 1.4, Volkswagen equipped it with a generous turbocharger, but today’s cars need to be small and agile, so it also has a supercharger with a belt drive that provides torque from 2,500 RPM and immediately pumps pressurised air, thereby increasing exhaust pressure, allowing the turbocharger to start boosting right away, making it feel like a 1.8 engine; the supercharger disengages and the turbo continues alone. Therefore, at low RPM, the supercharger operates, and after reaching a certain RPM, it disengages, and the turbo kicks in, giving you a 1.4 with exceptional performance.
