In this video, we are provided with interesting details about the regeneration of the particulate filter of the Volkswagen Polo 1.6 TDI. The first thing to know is that this regeneration occurs at very variable mileage intervals. This depends on the roads we have traveled, because if we have driven a lot on highways or fast-flowing roads, it can take up to 1,000 km before regeneration is needed. On the other hand, if we have traveled a lot in the city with frequent stops and starts, regeneration may be necessary in less than 200 kilometers. This car does not have a warning light that indicates the ongoing regeneration, but the symptoms are evident: the engine revs increase, it performs less efficiently at high speeds, and there is intense heat emanating from the engine compartment. Regenerations should not be interrupted; if it happens for some particular reason, the process resumes from where it was left off when the car is restarted.
