To activate Sign Assist on the Volkswagen Golf, so that the car can detect road signs, turn on the instrument cluster by turning the key in the ignition switch: once the cluster is on, navigate to the menu displayed in the centre of the dashboard. Press the SETUP button and then select the "Driver Assistance" option: scroll to find the "Traffic Sign Recognition" option, which should be switched from "Off" to "On". Then return to the home screen to confirm the change.
