Replacing the remote battery of the Volvo S40 is possible by pressing the designated button at the top of the device to lift the mechanical key. Once this has been lifted, you can remove the cover from the back of the remote by prying underneath it with a flat-head screwdriver. Once the cover has been removed, extract the battery from its housing and replace it with a new replacement part. After replacement, reinsert the cover and lower the key.
