How to Change Oil and Oil Filter on AUDI A4 B8 Manual Transmission

After lifting the hood, remove the engine cover, which can be easily taken off as it is held by clips. It is always recommended to change the filter along with the oil to ensure clean oil and a new filter for optimal engine performance. It is advisable to use an additive to mix with the old oil; run the engine for about 15 minutes to allow the additive to thin the old oil, making it easier to drain and leaving the engine clean. To change the oil, work from under the vehicle and remove the lower cover that protects the engine from mud, water, rocks, etc. It can be easily removed using the 11 external screws with a Phillips screwdriver. To remove the oil pan plug, use a 19 mm socket wrench, located on the side of the pan. It is advisable to replace the bolt you remove from the oil pan with a new one. Drain the oil into a suitable container, which you will dispose of at authorized centers. While the oil drains, you can change the oil filter; remove the oil filler cap to facilitate the flow. Back at the engine bay, to unscrew the oil filter cap, use a 32 mm socket with an extension. Remove it while wrapping it in a rag to avoid spilling oil on the engine. Pull the old filter off its cap and remove the old gaskets from the cap and the support stem. Install the new gaskets and then the new filter (the side with the writing faces the cap). Tighten it until you feel it secure, then reinstall it in its housing and tighten the cap again with the 32 mm socket. Run your hand around the cap to ensure the gasket hasn’t twisted outside, which could allow oil to leak and cause serious damage. Now, go back under the engine and reinstall the new bolt with its washer to the oil pan; reattach the engine cover with its 11 screws, and now you are ready to pour in the new oil. You can check the oil level from the onboard computer, but it takes about 5 quarts. Securely close the oil cap and replace the cover by pressing down on all four corners. The last thing to do is reset the service light by going to control unit number 17, function 10 for adaptations, and in channel 02 set the value "that is" save and reset the message. The job is done.
