How to Change Engine Oil and Filter on a BMW 1 Series

To change the engine oil and filter on a BMW 1 Series, open the car door and pull up the engine compartment release lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard. Lift the bonnet and secure it. Using a socket spanner, unscrew the securing bolt of the container cap where the oil filter is located. Remove the soundproofing panel to access the filter; extract the worn oil filter and install a new one. Raise the car on a jack and unscrew the bolt from the oil sump; drain the fluid into a container. Finally, refill with new oil and close the bonnet.

How to Open the Bonnet on the Lancia Y
