How to replace the timing chain on a BMW 318

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006

To proceed with the replacement of the timing chain on this engine we will have to remove the upper cover of the same, the various cables and the valve cover. Once this is done at the end of the two camshafts we will have the two sprockets on which the chain is gripped. After letting out the engine oil, we can unscrew the intermediate plugs located on the front of the engine and then proceed with the removal of the service belt pulleys. On the side we have the chain tensioner that will be completely unscrewed and later we can remove all the electrical equipment that prevents us from extracting the chain.
