To replace the serpentine belt on a BMW X5, it is convenient to completely remove the engine block from its compartment, as the belt is located at the front and is not easy to reach. Therefore, by unscrewing the engine mounting bolts, you can remove it from its housing and gain easy access to the serpentine belt: by loosening the center nut of the tensioner pulley, you can reduce its tension and replace it with a new one. After the replacement, you can reinstall the engine.
