The comfort key is a nice convenience, as it allows you to open the doors and start the engine while keeping it comfortably in your pocket.
However, like all electronic components, it is subject to a wide variety of small and large issues. This video is a step-by-step guide to troubleshooting. The first attempt should be to replace the internal battery, which for the comfort key is fortunately easily accessible. If the vehicle starts at this point without inserting the key into the ignition, the problem is resolved, indicating that the key transmits a good signal; if the doors do not open, the issue may be with the handles. Keep in mind that if you replace a faulty comfort key with a new one, you can only have two associated with the vehicle, so your service center must deactivate the old key to activate the new one.
