Steering Angle Sensor Calibration

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006

If the ABS warning light or the stability control light (triangle with an arrow in the center) remains on the instrument cluster display, you need to calibrate the steering angle sensor. This operation must be performed every time you disassemble the steering column or perform an alignment. To carry out the calibration, you need a diagnostic tool connected to the OBD diagnostic port. Select the make and model, enter the ABS diagnostic module, and clear the fault memory and perform the calibration following the diagnostic instructions (steering wheel centered). Once the calibration is complete, ensure that the warning lights are off by turning the steering wheel and check the parameters to verify that the zero angle corresponds to the straight wheel position and that it varies linearly when turning the steering wheel left and right.
