If the Citroen C1 Consumes Oil, the Problem May Be the PCV Valve

If your Citroen C1 consumes oil, the problem may be the PCV valve (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) which recovers the mixture of oil vapours, petrol, and burnt gases that escape into the oil pump and redirects them into the intake manifold to burn them in the engine. Symptoms of a faulty PCV include: oil leaks, white smoke from the exhaust due to excess burnt oil, and excessive oil consumption. The valve is located at the top of the engine, mounted in the camshaft cover, next to the oil filler cap. As seen in the video, it is quite easy to remove by taking the clip of the cap with your hands and pulling it towards the inside of the engine. At this point, simply pull the valve out of its housing. You can easily clean it with carb cleaner on both ends, and replace it when it is completely dry, applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly to fit it back into its housing.
