How to change the engine oil, oil filter, and air filter in a Fiat Ducato DIY

On the Fiat Ducato, the engine maintenance operation involves draining the oil, replacing the oil filter, and the air filter. Place the Fiat Ducato on a flat surface, slightly warm up the engine, and then turn it off. Position a container under the oil pan, unscrew the drain plug, and let the oil flow out; replace the washer and screw it back in, tightening it to the specified torque.

Next, address the oil filter: if it is a spin-on type, unscrew it, lubricate the seal of the new one, and hand-tighten it until it is snug, plus a quarter to half a turn; if it is a cartridge type, open the filter housing, replace the cartridge and the O-ring, and then tighten it to the specified value.

For the air filter, open the airbox of the Fiat Ducato, remove the worn element, clean the housing, insert the new filter while respecting the flow direction, and close it, ensuring that the clips/Torx screws are properly seated.

Fill the engine through the valve cover opening with oil of the specified viscosity; pour gradually, wait a few seconds, and check the level. Start the engine for a few seconds to fill the system, turn it off, and recheck the level, topping up if necessary.

Finally, conduct a leak check and, if there is a warning light, proceed to reset the service interval from the Fiat Ducato's instrument panel.
