Instructions for Checking Brake Disc Ovality

If you feel vibrations in the brake pedal under your foot or even in the steering wheel during braking, it indicates a problem with the deformation of the brake discs or an eccentric rotation, possibly caused by oxidation of the disc seat on the hub or the hub bearing itself. Lift the vehicle with a jack and remove the front wheel (if the disc is held in place by the wheel fixing nuts, re-tighten them); then use a digital gauge or dial indicator to check for any eccentricity in the disc rotation: zero the gauge and rotate the disc, observing the variation of the indicator, noting that the acceptable tolerance is 0.1 mm; since in this case you are out of tolerance, remove the brake caliper, the bracket, and the disc itself to clean the hub seat and the disc; repeat the check and if the problem persists, check the rotation of the hub itself: if the eccentricity exceeds 0.05 mm, then there is a problem with the hub bearing.
