Ford Kuga - Video tutorial

Model: Ford Kuga MK 1, C394 - Years 2008-2012
Part: Steering wheel
Operation: How to remove airbag and steering wheel on the Ford Kuga MK1

In this video we can see how to remove the steering wheel and airbag on a Ford Kuga MK1; first we need to loosen the steering wheel, then we will have to remove the plastic cover of the steering wheel, which easily comes off by levering with a flat screwdriver or plastic spatula, allowing us to also remove the plastic cover of the instrument panel, held in place by only two clips. Now, turning the steering wheel, we see that there is a small hole on each side at the back: we will need two thin screwdrivers, insert them into the holes and pull the clip from both sides; the airbag pops out almost by itself. Now we must be very careful in delicately removing the electrical connectors. Remove the steering wheel with a 24 mm key, but it is advisable to first remove the wiring of the clock spring located inside.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
