Replacing the Engine Oil and Filter

To change the engine oil and filter, first obtain the oil and replacement filter according to the technical specifications for your car. Secondly, you will need adequate space and tools for this type of work. Start by lifting the car, observing all safety regulations. Using a sheet of plexiglass, you can lie down and 'slide' more easily under the car, being cautious of any hot engine or exhaust. Loosen the oil drain plug on the sump and finish unscrewing it by hand, keeping a collection container ready for the used oil. Allow all the oil to drain out and re-tighten the drain plug. Now unscrew the filter, taking care of any remaining oil inside. Refit the new filter. Pour some new oil into the engine. Lower the car and start the engine for a few minutes to circulate the oil. Check the oil level with the dipstick and top up with more oil if necessary until it reaches the optimal level. Car model: Honda Civic Del Sol Year: 1993
Required tools: jack and axle stands, 17mm T-key, collection container, optional under-car trolley or sheet of plexiglass.
