Replacement of Timing Chain

Model: Hyundai Sonata - Years 2004-2014

Lift the vehicle on a hydraulic lift, remove the front right wheel, and then the wheel arch cover to access the crankshaft pulley; loosen the tensioner of the auxiliary belt and slide it off the pulleys; then remove the water pump pulley to access the timing chain pins. Rotate the crankshaft pulley to align the timing marks and then remove it. Remove the spark plug tubes and the rocker cover; detach the engine mount after placing a support jack under the engine; before proceeding with the removal of the timing cover, drain the engine oil through the sump drain plug and remove the sump itself; then remove all the fastening pins of the timing cover. Once the cover is removed by sliding it off from the top, start disassembling the lower part of the timing chain, beginning with the respective tensioners and guides; repeat the procedure for the upper section of the chain. Working in reverse, install the new chains with the respective tensioners and guides; reassemble everything previously removed (it is recommended to replace the cover gasket) and fill the engine with new oil before restarting it.
