On the Lancia Thesis, Access to the Timing Belt is Possible Without Removing the Camshaft Covers

While on most vehicles it is necessary to remove several parts of the engine bay to access the timing belt, the Lancia Thesis designers created a dedicated access point that makes inspecting and replacing the belt much simpler. To access the passenger side wheel arch, turn the steering wheel fully to the left; the wheel arch is secured with screws and plastic clips; remove the plastic inner wing, revealing a large area of the lateral engine compartment, showing the space that houses the steering pulley, alternator, and, importantly, the timing belt cover. By removing the screws from the cover, you gain direct and easy access to the timing belt, pulleys, and tensioner.
