Installing the Differential Lock Lever

Especially in four-wheel drive vehicles, having the ability to lock the differential is very useful in situations where the terrain challenges the vehicle. This device is not standard on all vehicles; therefore, if it is not present, it is necessary to install a specific kit. After installing the device on the differential, you need to replace the dummy lever with the actual control lever. Installing the control lever requires complete disassembly of the center tunnel. Start by removing the dummy lever and the shift knob. Then, using a plastic tool to avoid damaging the body, pry at the base of the tunnel around the rear ashtray to release the plastic clips and remove it to access the tunnel retaining screws. Remove the glove compartment from the tunnel and take out the screws at the bottom to lift the entire tunnel to retrieve the various wiring harnesses prepared by the manufacturer for these accessories.
